Anti-OpenSocial: What A Tipcal Case

Just before I set up this blog, a friend of mine on Twitter told me a website of Anti-OpenSocial. And soon, I read comments of the case on another blog where discuss China's Web 2.0 news in English.

The OpenSocial Applicatioin Contest is held by Google China, which provides competitor an API. The API has access to multiple China website, such as 51.com, XiaoNei.com,yiqi.com and others. Those websites are mostly SNS.

The declaration from Anti-OpenSocial mainly target on Google China and 51.com. 51.com, as a partner of OpenSocial Contest onced published an hotly disputed claim. According to 51.com's claims that many popular apps, such as parking war, friends for sale are 'not suggested to be developed' by developers.

Clearly, every marketer will have comment over this case like "this is a bad PR" , or let's just say"this is a bad public image" of 51.com and google China. But it is not just about PR, and this is not just about a boycott.

In China many internet case has shown that many dotcoms are lack of complete marketing and PR strategy, or may be thier marketing strategy just hasn't been shown in their moves. In many cases, that's the reason why dotcoms always doing something that are just calling for words like anti or boycott.
